Dan Schiffman joined Northwestern Mutual in 1998 after completing his education at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Oxford University. In his years as a Wealth Management Advisor with Northwestern Mutual, Dan has grown his knowledge base through the pursuit of several professional accreditations in order to better serve his clientele. Dan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC®), and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) – all designations that mark the completion of a rigorous course of study, testing and ongoing education. Additionally, Dan has received numerous industry awards for his commitment to excellence in financial planning, and has had the honor of being invited to speak to hundreds of his Northwestern Mutual colleagues as a keynote speaker and thought leader at the Northwestern Mutual Eastern Regional Meeting in New York City a total of four times.
In 2021, Dan established Capital River Wealth Management with Northwestern Mutual. After running his own practice for many years with the support of his amazing team, the creation of Capital River Wealth Management was the next logical step in providing the personalized service and expert guidance that Dan’s clients expect.
Dan is a member of the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards, Inc, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting. His financial planning philosophy is to always meet his clients where they are – by establishing personal relationships and learning each person’s philosophies he is able to create enduring connections with clients that last for years and span generations.
Dan and his wife Lisa live in Frederick, MD, with their children. He loves all things history—and is unable to walk through a museum without slowing everyone down while he reads. Dan also enjoys creative writing, and spending time with his family and friends, which occasionally includes a night of karaoke.
