Dan Schiffman is the 2019 Recipient of the George Delaplaine Distinguished Citizen Award
In May 2019 Dan Schiffman was honored as the recipient of the George Delaplaine Distinguished Citizen Award. For the past 23 years this award has recognized members of the community which was sponsored by the Francis Scott Key District, National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. The event not only honored Dan’s who have made Frederick and Frederick County a better place to live. The award was presented at the 24thAnnual Distinguished Citizen’s Dinner, commitment to Frederick, but raised funds for the National Capital Area Council of Boy Scouts of America who provide scouting across Washington, DC, and counties in Northern Virginia and Maryland. During the dinner which was held at Walker’s Overlook on May 22, 2019, Dan was recognized for his many contributions to the Frederick community, and also received citations from local government officials including Governor Larry Hogan. Dan was joined by his family, and several friends and colleagues as he received this prestigious honor.
Dan Schiffman receives the 2020 Paul S. Brown Enrichment Award
On February 14th, 2020 at the Mutual - Mid-Atlantic annual honors and awards day, Scott Iodice presented Dan with the Paul S. Brown Enrichment Award. The inscription reads: In recognition of selfless giving for the betterment of the Northwestern Mutual community and beyond." The award is named after a special friend to many associated with Northwestern Mutual," said Dan Schiffman. "Paul was an executive with our home office in Milwaukee, WI who was on an extended rotation spending time with our Maryland group. Paul was an outgoing, kind, and abundant person who brought life into a room and was missed when he left a room. Paul served others, and always with joy. Paul was killed on Saturday, June 5, 2016, while cycling in Wisconsin. He was 45 years old and left legacy of service and joy to us in Maryland. Thank you Northwestern Mutual - Mid-Atlantic for creating a way to keep Paul’s legacy alive and a way to introduce him to those who didn’t know him."
Capital River Wealth Management Sponsors Insul-Tech's "Tee'd Up for a Cure" Cancer Fundraising Golf Outing
Capital River Wealth Management has been the "Happy Hour" sponsor for the Tee'd Up for a Cure fundraiser since 2016. This annual event, held at Holly Hills County Club in Frederick County each summer, seeks to raise money for cancer research and funds the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Since the event's inception in 2016, organizers have raised over $195,000 to support cancer research.
Dan Schiffman Presents the Frederick Memorial Hospital 2019 Good Samaritan of the Year Award
Dan Schiffman had the distinct honor to present award recipeients Phil Berkheimer and Ray Ramsburg were with Frederick Memorial Hospital’s 2019 Good Samaritans of the Year Award at a recognition event on May 16, 2019. This year’s annual reception also commemorated the 30th anniversary of the hospital’s volunteer fundraising arm, the FMH Development Council.

Dan Schiffman Receives Community Service Award from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation
In 2010, Advocates for Homeless Families, Inc. received a $10,000 grant from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation in recognition of financial advisor Dan Schiffman’s outstanding volunteer involvement as part of the 16th annual national Community Service Award program. Schiffman is one of 25 financial representatives who was recognized as a top volunteer in 2010. The Community Service Award began in 1995. Since then, Northwestern Mutual Foundation has award $7 million in grants to various nonprofit organizations nationwide.
